Samsung SCX-4300 Multifunction Laser Printer Review
Samsung SCX-4500 checks its sleek, black gloss a few months ago, but only indirectly with the model number 200 and $ 100 from the price and ask SCX-4300e is also a mono-, laser-based all-in a printer, covered with black plastic, but it is much simpler design, and in some respects more practical approach is needed.
SCX-4300 is a clear footprint is all-in-one office machine, a little wider than normal personal laser printer, but very similar in depth and height. Half of the machine a little flare in the beginning to accommodate A4 scanner mechanism which, unlike the SCX-4500 sits in the entire laser engine from left to right, instead of front to rear.
The panel consists of two line 16 character LCD display without backlight, but it is easy to read under normal light conditions. Eight of the control buttons work well and the screen menu system for large hardware settings are easy to navigate.
Directly below the control panel is a connector from the leaves and a small folding stop at the end, but the leaves do not respond to the table, even if not renewed. At the bottom of the front panel is a 250-sheet input tray, more than twice the capacity of the SCX-4500, and a single sheet multi-purpose special slot in the media.
Although the scanner section lifts up and spring-loaded supports the proposal that only the lift just enough to get your hands, if a paper jam. It would be useful if it swung to a vertical, as in most of the All-in-ones. The back is for power and USB connections, only the data connection to the machine.
Front hinge machine, access to an integrated offering and the toner cartridge, which slides in from the front drum. This is a very close fit and takes a little wobble to the case received. Samsung offers a starter cartridge SCX-4300, ISO 1000 just for a good site, half the normal capacity. Given the asking price for printer, but it is perhaps excusable.
Software, the machine is equipped with Samsungs standard interface of the printer utilities, and Dr. SmarThru 4. The first deals with scanning, copying and printing, and sharing photos, while the second is a diagnostic website. The driver either deal with watermarks, and various layers of the print settings are included in a logical and easy to move the panel.
SCX-4300 is pretty nippy little printer, completing our five page text document, just 30 seconds to 10 ppm. Text and graphics pages (five of them again) is even faster than we 11.54ppm and printed our 20-page document took 1:21, increasing the speed again 14.81ppm. Samsung claimed a top speed of 18ppm, making the printer maker that almost obscene detail.
One page copy of the final 11 seconds, so you six or so pages per minute and the machine 15 x 10 cm photo is a bit more, not less than 13 seconds to get. Both speeds are impressive, especially when the machine is sold around 100 pounds less, less of confinement.
The print quality is good in most areas. While the machine is simply a maximum resolution of 600 dpi, there is little visible sign is the text of jagged diagonals or curves. If you have a grayscale images simultaneously, the quality is not quite as good as some of the obvious stripping, and there is not much to see shades of gray.
This is highlighted by photographs, of course, like that you print a matrix, also suffer from a clear, micro-banding and loses much more detail in dark, shaded areas. Finally grayscale photocopying, printing machine itself, and in particular to look terrible, because if the pictures are part of the surface to be cleaned. We have noticed that all the other-in-one devices from Samsung and other brands too, and I think that a product Contact Image Scanner (CIS) scanning technology conflict with the dot matrix patterns to print, a bit like a bad Moire border.
SCX-4300 uses an integrated drum and toner cartridge capable ISO 2000 printed pages. With a typical cost of just under 40 pounds, will cost 2.7p per page, including the cost of paper. This is a fairly typical cost of laser equipment and the black color of the one that you do not pay extra because of the relatively low purchase price, all-in-one with them.
Conclusion
This is a good, simple, multifunction printer, which is very typical SOHO environment at home. This is quite fast, produces good text and graphics, reasonable, although a copy of the graphics, especially shades of gray, it may be very wrong. Running costs are reasonable and if your budget is tight, it seems a good opportunity to give themselves the main printing, scanning and copying at reasonable prices.
